Having been identified by the Nelson Mandela Foundation as a future leader in 2005, Aubrey was awarded the Nelson Mandela Scholarship, which saw him complete an MBA (cum laude) at the Leeds University Business School in the UK. He also recently completed a year-long International Executive Development Programme (IEDP) with University of Pretoria’s Business School (GIBS). Prior to joining the KZN Growth Fund, Aubrey was the Head of Equity Investments at the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA) responsible for over R7 billion of Assets Under Management. He also spent years as a Corporate Finance Manager at Deloitte as well as an Investment Officer at the DBSA and KZN Growth Fund Managers. He has over 15 years’ experience in Investment Banking, Equity Investments, Corporate Finance and Entrepreneurship.
Aubrey has also served as an Advisory Board member on four global and regional private equity funds; viz. Emerging Capital Partners Fund III; African Agriculture Fund, MCI Value Partners Fund and the Women Private Equity Fund.
Mr Dlamini is a qualified Accountant registered with South African Institute of Chartered Accountant SA (SAICA) and South African Institute of Professional Accountants (SAIPA) and holds a B.Com degree from University of Natal (known as KZN) and Post graduate Certificate in Theory of Accounting from University of Johannesburg (UJ).
Mr Dlamini has more than 19 years of experience of which 14 years in Public sector holding positions of Chief Financial Officers and 5 years in private sector. Mr Dlamini has worked as Chief Financial Officer at the following company’s i.e. Office of Public Protector, Joburg Property Company and Ekurhuleni Housing Company. Mr Dlamini has 9 years Property experience in both private and public sector.
Prior to that Mr Dlamini was Head of Finance at Absa Group & Barclays Africa in Corporate and Real Estate Services (CRES) managing finance teams in 13 African Countries .i.e. Kenya, Uganda, Mozambique,Egypt,Tanzania, Namibia Ghana, Botswana, Mauritius, Seychelles, Zambia, Zimbabwe and South Africa.
Prior to that Mr Dlamini was an Audit Manager at Gcabashe Auditing Services and audited the following companie’s: Department of Trade and Industry, Spoornet, Pinnancle Health Solutions, AMM Incorporated, JHB Market Theatre, Alliance Capital Management (Provident Fund), Black Management Forum and Telkom SA.
And prior to that was a Trainee Accountant at Office of Auditor General and started his carreer as an Accountant at Telkom SA after completing his degree at Natal University (UKZN).
Khwezi holds a BSc Chemical Engineering degree from the University of Cape Town. She also has a certificate in Financial and Risk Management from UNISA. Prior to joining the KZN GrowthFund, Khwezi was the project lead on the Durban Dig-out Port project for SAPREF. She hasexperience as a Transactor at RMB Ventures, the private equity division of First Rand Limited. She was involved in the full value chain of investing and has looked at investment opportunities from various industries. She also spent years as the head of investments and credit risk analyst at the Kwande Group and Nedbank, respectively.
Nathi’s career in financial risk management spans over twenty years, in different roles, with various financial institutions. A commercial subject teacher by profession, he joined the private sector where he honed his risk management skills with companies such as Credit Guarantee Insurance, Nedbank, Khula Enterprise Finance, Development Bank of Southern Africa, Anglo American and Liberty – where he performed roles such as credit administration and analysis, underwriter, head of risk, chief risk officer, an independent financial advisor and a trainer-consultant in credit-investment risk management.
His areas of expertise include credit and investment risk management for corporate finance, project finance, municipal finance, SME finance and equity investments, across all sectors of business operations, in SA and the SADC region. He is also skilled in developing policies, procedures and methodologies for managing financial risks. Before joining the KZNGF, he worked as an independent financial advisor with Liberty, and as a trainer-consultant on credit-investment risk management. On the latter, he has developed and facilitated training courses for various DFIs in the SADC region, on behalf of the SADC DFRC. His hobbies and outside interests include farming and properties.
Mr Ndidi has over 10 years’ experience in investment banking and development finance, with transactional exposure across various economic sectors. His specialities, which include infrastructure financing and advisory, project and risk structuring together with financial modelling, complement the team’s skill set. He joined the Growth Fund from the Development Bank of Southern Africa where he was a Financial Analyst. Prior to that he was with Pamoja Capital, a corporate finance advisory firm with operations in Johannesburg and Nairobi.
With a natural flair for business, Sandile is a Founder of MagCapital, a company specializing in M&A, MBO, MBI, Capital Raising, and Advisory services. Sandile Magubane has solid experience in deal sourcing, deal structuring, and deal execution, due diligence, capital raising, financial modelling, valuations, investment reports, financial management, taxation and auditing.
Sandile’ s work experience spans over a 10 year period. Prior to joining the KZN Growth Fund Trust (KGFT), Sandile was an Investment Associate at the National Empowerment Fund where he gained extensive experience in debt, quasi-equity and equity finance, Acquisition Finance, Project Finance, Expansion Finance, Capital Markets Fund, and Liquidity and Warehousing.
He has experience as a Trainee Accountant at PKF, Investment Analyst at Business Partners, Provincial Investment Manager at Old Mutual and Head of Finance at Innovent Asset Rentals a company specialising in structured finance and asset finance.
Mr Khumalo holds a Bcom (Accounting) degree from UKZN and a Post Graduate Diploma in Applied Accounting Sciences from UNISA. He served his articles with the Office of the Auditor General South Africa in KZN and was retained as an Assistant Audit Manager at the AGSA head office (Pretoria). He has experience in public sector auditing; he has been involved in audits of government institutions including state owned companies.
Mr Zondi graduated from the University of KwaZulu-Natal and served his articles at PricewaterHouseCoopers (PwC) and LMD Africa Chartered Accountants Inc. Prior to being appointed as Finance Manager of KZN Growth Fund in November 2015, Mr Zondi occupied various positions, namely Ferrero Agri SA(Financial Manager) & Bidvest Panalpina Logistics (Financial Risk Manager).
Urvashi is an admitted attorney with over 20 years of in-house corporate legal expertise. Her career commenced at Business Partners then in Gauteng I worked at ABSA Bank (Commercial Properties), Diluculo Investments, National Empowerment Fund and Sasfin Bank.
Her legal knowledge and experience includes banking, corporate and commercial law, investment funding in various industries through hybrid instruments including equity and structured finance. As an in-house counsel she also conducts legal due diligence exercises, provides reliable and detailed legal opinions, identifies and mitigate legal risk , investigates and considers the impact of relevant statutes(and amendments thereto) on business as usual.
She has exposure in a broad range of industries including banking, financial services, property and construction, engineering, ICT, media, entertainment, manufacturing and mining industries.
Nothando Mabunda holds a BCom Accounting degree from the University of Swaziland and a BTech Credit Management from UNISA. Prior to joining the organization, Nothando was a Credit Risk Manager at Nedbank Business Banking.
She has also previously held other Credit positions within the Small, Medium and Corporate banking environments. She comes with a wealth of knowledge in Portfolio Credit and Risk Management from having engaged with clients from diverse industries.
Ms. Sikakana holds a B.Com degree from the University of Kwazulu Natal and a Management Diploma in Compliance Risk Management from UNISA. She served Articles with PricewaterhouseCoopers and worked post Articles at their New York Office under the Banking and Capital Markets audit division as an Audit Manager where her audit portfolio included hedge funds and private equity clients. In 2011, her Compliance and Risk career commenced with The Independent Development Trust where she worked for their Compliance and Risk division assisting Management with identifying and assessing regulatory compliance risks, ensuring monitoring through the compliance and risk systems and processes, providing compliance advice and reporting to Regulators and other Bodies. She has gained exposure in managing Compliance and Risk in a broad range of industries and joined KZN Growth Fund in October 2016 as Compliance and Risk Analyst.
